FORMS
If you were registered with the Board in 2022, you may renew / reinstate your individual CPA certificate online for 2023. See the “CPAs & Firms” page for links and instructions.
All licensed CPAs have to report CPE for the 2022 CPE Report year (including Ethics!) in order for your 2023 renewal / reinstatement to be complete and valid – unless you were newly licensed in 2022 or you reinstated your license from a prior year in 2022. Instructions and CPE Reporting Forms can be found below.
Licensed CPAs who no longer practice and wish to register with the Board in INACTIVE status and be exempted from CPE should email the Board at cpaboard.sitemaster@la.gov with the following information – your name, certificate number, current mailing address, and phone number including area code – in order for us to update the database. After the database has been updated, you must renew your Inactive status online or by paper.
Please note that if you decide to reinstate to ACTIVE status in the future, the Board’s current reinstatement requirements include completion of 120 hours of continuing professional education within the past 3 years from reinstatement (including a Board-approved Professional Ethics course) PLUS one year of work experience within the past 4 years from reinstatement which must be verified by an active-licensed CPA. You should contact the Board at that time for reinstatement information.
If you no longer practice and wish to apply for RETIRED status at any time with the Board and be exempted from CPE, you can download, complete, and mail in the Application for CPA-RETIRED Status found here: Application for CPA-Retired Status
To be registered in Retired status, you must first apply for Retired status –
- Eligibility to apply and register in CPA-RETIRED status requires that you:
- Be age 55 or older,
- Have held an Active license for at least 20 consecutive years, and
- Are no longer an owner, partner, shareholder, member, contractor, contractee, or employee of a CPA firm.
- Application fee for CPA-RETIRED is $50.
- Both CPA-RETIRED and CPA-INACTIVE statuses are CPE exempt and do not have practice privileges associated with the status.
- If you are approved for CPA-RETIRED and later wish to reinstate your license, you can do so based on the current Board rules at that time.
Individual CPAs and Inactive or Retired Status Registrants who cannot renew online can do so by mail. You should use the appropriate form(s) below if renewing by mail. Please note the Board’s office cannot accept any payment by phone.
