Lisa Benefield

Executive Director

Lisa Benefield, Executive Director

As Executive Director, I oversee the day-to-day operations of the Board’s office and manage a wide variety of things from negotiating contracts and leases, to preparing the Board’s annual budget to approving staff payroll to facilitating our annual audit by the Louisiana Legislative Auditor. On any given day, you might find me on a monthly NASBA Executive Directors’ Zoom call, testifying at the State Capital, participating in Louisiana college visits, answering tons of emails, helping with our increased call volume during renewal season or watering the plants in my office – everyday is different! I work with an amazing staff and enjoy the work we are doing to help support our Board Members to effectively protect the public and enhance the CPA profession in Louisiana. Outside of the office, you will find me jogging or thinking about jogging.

By day, I support the management, monitoring, and enforcement of compliance for licensed CPAs and CPA firms, ensuring adherence to statutory requirements, guiding firm participation in Board-approved Peer Review Programs, and promoting professionalism through the Rules of Professional Conduct and CPE standards.

Outside the office, you’ll likely find me on a football field or track, coaching youth sports—something I’m passionate about and proud to be involved in. Whether it’s helping young athletes build confidence or planning our family’s next monthly getaway, I believe in balance, teamwork, and showing up, whether for my profession or my family.

Ramzey Bunley

Accounting Technician

Ramzey Bunley, Accounting Technician

Hey there! I’m Ramzey, the behind-the-scenes number cruncher at the State Board of CPAs. As the Accounting Technician, I make sure our financial gears keep turning like clockwork—handling everything from reconciling payments for license renewals and other fees, to ensuring our invoices don’t mysteriously vanish into the void. Think of me as the financial GPS of our team. Whether it’s tracking expenses, organizing reports, or making sure every penny is where it should be, my role is to keep financial processes running with as much ease as possible (and maybe a little too much excitement over a perfectly reconciled statement).

When I’m not deep in spreadsheets, you might find me appreciating the creative side of our business—because, hey, numbers and art aren’t as different as they seem. Both require balance, attention to detail, and a little flair. Outside of work, I’m the proud mom of a brilliant and talented 14-year-old visual artist!

In my free time I enjoy watching and rooting for the Saints and the Cubs, playing with my rescue Pitbull, Loki, and spending time with friends and family.
