The State Board of Certified Public Accountants of Louisiana seeks to fill the position of Executive Director. Applicants should be a licensed CPA, but candidates with strong administrative backgrounds in the public or private sector may be considered.
Job Description Summary
Plans, directs, and oversees all aspects of the Board’s financial, operational, contractual, and human resource administration in accordance with state law and regulations. Responsible for examination, licensing, and enforcement functions in compliance with legislation, regulation, and/or the policies of the Board. Develops, acquires, and implements systems and procedures to ensure high standards of efficiency and effectiveness. Recommends general policy and implements Board approved policy decisions.
Responsible for organizing, staffing, contracting, and managing the daily functions of the Board’s office to ensure the eligibility and qualifications of CPA examination candidates and license applicants. Supervises the administration of the continuing professional education (CPE) program; provides general oversight of peer review compliance program, enforcement procedures and investigations; and, serves as official custodian of records.
Delegated as the Appointing Authority with respect to other staff positions. Position is assisted by and directly supervises the work of the Director of Administration.

Working conditions, in general
Normal office environment. Occasional local travel required. Out of state travel as necessary, approximately three times a year.

The State Board is a licensing agency of the State of Louisiana with over 12,500 registered CPAs and Firms. The Board acts in the public interest to promote the reliability of public accounting practice and financial reporting. The State Board is composed of seven members who are licensed CPAs appointed by the Governor. The Board currently has eight full-time staff. Offices are located in the Pan American Life Center in downtown New Orleans.
Compensation, Benefits, and Employment Offer
The State Board offers compensation commensurate with qualifications. Fringe benefits, such as, health insurance through the Office of Group Benefits (OGB) and the LA state employees’ retirement plan (LASERS) are available. Employees are under the State’s ethics code and agency staff must not have a financial interest in a CPA firm, activities, or relationships inconsistent with the Board’s mission. An offer of employment for this position is expected to be made by November and is contingent upon satisfactory completion of background checks.
